How do I use "Why Can't I Connect?"
Open a range of limited capacity servers. The servers will try to accept a connection and get the peer IP address and port, it will not try to maintain the connection. Traces will be written for ports that fail to open (the port is possibly in use by another server.) Once open, the server will report any attempt to connect. It will include the peer IP address and port if possible.
Enter the starting port and total ports to open. The maximum number of ports is 1000 in Unix / Linux operating systems, 10,000 in Windows operating systems. The 'Show Trace Message Boxes' check box is a convenience for turning off trace message boxes during Multiple Server sessions (there may be many errors.)
Release 1.9.1
Release 1.9.1 is now available.
In this release:
1. Changed the url of the Knowledge Base to match the website redesign.
2. A minor cosmetic change.
3. A minor bug fix.
The new website design is friendlier but required a remapping of the pages.
I removed the border around the visible trace list.
If loading the dll for ICMP fails, I disabled the neighbors tool. I now only disable the use of ICMP echo requests. ICMP is only available in Windows installs.
